Writing Your First Journal Entry

Starting a new journaling practice can feel daunting. Here's how to make it easy:

Choose Your Entry Type

Joyful offers several entry types to match your needs:

  • Journal: Free-form expression and reflection
  • Gratitude: Focus on what you're thankful for
  • Set Intentions: Plan your day or week ahead
  • Thought Record: Challenge negative thoughts using CBT
  • Celebrate Wins: Acknowledge your achievements

During Your Entry

As you write, Joy will:

  • Ask thoughtful follow-up questions
  • Offer gentle prompts when you're stuck
  • Provide insights based on what you share
  • Never judge or criticize

Finishing Your Entry

When you're done:

  1. 1Tap "Finish Entry"
  2. 2Joy may ask a brief follow-up question for reflection
  3. 3Your entry is saved and encrypted

That's okay! Try these prompts:

  • "How am I feeling right now?"
  • "What's on my mind today?"
  • "What happened today that I want to remember?"
