How personal struggle led to a mental wellness solution

Thirteen years ago, I experienced a severe anxiety crisis that turned my world upside down. At the time, I didn't understand what anxiety was, and the symptoms I experienced were overwhelming and destabilizing. I felt like I was losing control of my mind and body.
The worst part? I thought it was my fault. I believed I was broken, weak, or somehow failing at life. It wasn't until I started therapy with a clinical psychologist that I began to understand my challenges weren't my fault - they were symptoms of a treatable condition.

Even with a great therapist, I found myself struggling during the times I needed help the most. Anxiety doesn't follow office hours - it would hit late at night, during busy workdays, or in moments when I couldn't reach my therapist.
My therapist gave me helpful worksheets and exercises, but carrying them around and finding the right moment to use them was challenging. I'd have a panic attack on the subway and realize my CBT worksheets were at home. Or I'd wake up at 3 AM with racing thoughts and have no way to process them effectively.
I needed something more accessible - a tool that could be there whenever and wherever I needed support.
I was always searching for a digital way to process my thoughts and emotions. When I discovered the power of modern AI to understand emotions and thought patterns, I knew this was the breakthrough I'd been looking for.

As I delved deeper into my mental health journey, I became fascinated by the science behind therapeutic practices. I spent countless hours studying research papers from leading institutions, ensuring that every feature in Joyful is grounded in scientific evidence.
